The Richard Mayo Centre is located at the heart of Kingston upon Thames, very near the main shopping centre and five minutes walk from both the railway and bus stations.

Although the sanctuary of the main church is was built around 1865 the rest of our building was built during the late 1970's and has recently been refurbished with a lift to all our facilities.

* The halls and rooms can be hired by almost anyone in the community. Hire periods can be anything from 4 hours to 364 days a year. The main accommodation is as follows: Mayo Hall: (17.5m x 10.5m) This hall will seat 200 people, has some theatre lighting and a retractable stage. It is mechanically ventilated, and can easily be rigged for microphones and other sound systems. There is a fully equipped kitchen next to the hall with a serving hatch into the hall.

    * The Training Room. Specially designed to suit training and small meeting needs. Various seating layouts, full audio visual facilities, temperature controlled, en-suite breakout/refreshment room. New furniture and comfortable seating. Hearing aid loop. A recent user said "it is the finest Training Room in the area"!!

    * The Meeting Room at ground floor with tables and chairs for up to 20 people

    * The Centre Hall: (13.5m x 10.5m plus 4.5m x 5.0m) This hall will seat 150 people and is often used for active pastimes or as a larger meeting room.

    * Room 22: (6.5m x 6.5m) This room is used either as a training room or for small conferences.

    * There are several other rooms of various sizes for hire.

    * Music: The sanctuary has all the characteristics required for a chamber concert venue.

    * Its acoustic qualities are ideal for music.

    * It has a good 3-manual pipe organ.

    * It seats 200 people.

    * It has lighting that can be dimmed.

    * Arrangements can be made to hire space to provide interval refreshments.

    * Our new lift and Training Room are open:

    * A 10 person lift to link all floors in our building

    * A modern training room suitable for up to 33 people with a variety of furniture layouts from Class Room to Board Room, fully temperature controlled, audio/visual aids etc. An en suite refreshment kitchen is adjacent. Hearing Aid loop.

    * A new larger meeting room at ground floor level that will accommodate 14 to 20 people.

Valerie Parkinson serves some regular customers with a warming drink, whilst others sit in comfort, enjoying the peace, quiet and companionship of the Foyer between 11am and 2pm.

Allan Oscroft writes: About four years ago, Elders and Church Meeting laid down criteria for commercial and charitable lettings. The agreed criteria was that lettings should be divided on a 50:50 basis between commercial and charitable lettings on a TIME basis.

A vital person in our Church Community is Mike Brennan who works tirelessly on our behalf during the week. In addition to keeping an eye on the cleanliness of our premises, Mike organises all the Hall and Room bookings. Your editor caught up with him early in the New Year and asked him to tell us a bit more about himself.
